IRONWEED SHOWS AND SERVICES
Ironweed usually offers up a big menu of various flavors during their performances from traditional grass to Cajun but you can certainly order your own style of preference. All shows can be performed with various sizes of sound systems or done completely acoustic.
IRONWEED SHOW MENU:
Traditional Bluegrass-This show features mainly first and second generation bluegrass music from Bill Monroe, Stanley Brothers, Jimmy Martin, Flatt and Scruggs and much more. (Traditional bluegrass instruments)
Honkytonk/Traditional Country-Only the finest in vintage, country dance music featuring tunes from Lefty Frizzel, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Hazel Dickens, Louvin Brothers, Willie Nelson and Ernest Tubb. (We plug in just a bit and drums are added for dance drive)
Swampweed Cajun Band-Lively sets of traditional, Cajun dancehall music provided with button accordion, fiddle, guitar, bass and percussion. Just a trio of accordion, guitar and fiddle is also available. (Cajun French vocals)
Instrumental –Background, dinner and minglin’ music provided for appropriate occasions. (Bluegrass, Cajun or traditional country styles available)
Combo Platter-This is a big ol’ helpin’ of everything: Traditional grass, newgrass, honkytonk, Cajun, swing and even a little bit of blues. Up to four hours are available of whatever you are hungry for.
SERVICES OFFERED
Private lessons:
Guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and vocal lessons are available in beginning, intermediate and advanced levels with Dierik Leonhard or Jane Accurso. Dierik also teaches a group class each year through Adult Education on bluegrass instruments.

Noah, our San Antonio student, will be coming to Columbia in the summer to do his first sidewalk gig with Dierik, Jane and friends…

Instrumentation and vocal services are available from Ironweed as a whole band or individually from Kelly, Dierik, Alan or Jane for YOUR recording project.(Mandolin available with Joe Wieneman)
Duo, Solo, Trio:
Each member of Ironweed is available for solo, duo and trio work.
Emcee:
As a fourteen year programmer and host for KOPN 89.5 FM, Jane will happily host your shows and events.
Theatre music:
Ironweed is available for theatre productions. Dierik & Jane have provided old-time music support for productions at the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theater & for Rhynsberger Theater, U. of Mo.
Music Workshops:
Dierik and Jane have a one hour presentation/demonstration on the roots of old-time music dating back to early minstrel tunes to current bluegrass. (Songs, instruments, multi-cultural history, audience participation)

IRONWEED (veronia noveboracensis) is a wildflower that blooms late in the summer. It has a small purple flower at the top, and a strong, iron-like stem. It’s a wild, tough flower but many argue it as a weed with a deep root and hard to get rid of. It’s real pretty and you’ll find it all over Boone County and beyond. Oh, and did we mention..the cows just won’t go near it.
IRONWEED (pickum singum excellentis) is a BLUEGRASS BAND from Columbia, Missouri formed in 1994. Some folks around here say there are strong similarities between the band and the wildflower. The IRONWEED BLUEGRASS BAND has developed a long, strong suit of hard-drivin' traditional and non-traditional bluegrass tunes. And when the folks want to dance, they can play some nice waltzes and two-steps, too. Their pickin' is awfully good -- and some will tell you that the singing is even better. This is a band to see, hear, and enjoy -- live!
